Kobe Bryant’s Legacy and Impact on Women’s Sports

“Sport is the vehicle through which we change the world. The next generation is going to carry this world forward.“
- Kobe Bryant

One year ago we lost a basketball legend, women’s sports fan, and most importantly a #girldad. Kobe’s impact on women’s sports has turned into his legacy. His contributions to women’s sports are still felt and prevalent today. Kobe was truly a champion of women’s sports and empowerment at every level of play. Kobe could be seen coaching his daughter Gigi’s AAU basketball team as well as supporting women’s college basketball teams, the WNBA, & the Olympic women’s soccer and basketball teams. One of the main missions of the Mamba Sports Foundation is “To provide funding for programs that offer equal opportunities for young women in sports.”
We are forever grateful for is impact and dedication to making the world a better place for ALL athletes.
Kobe, Gigi, Payton, Sarah, Alyssa, Keri, John, Christina, and Ara you are missed, rest in power.
"The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do."
- Kobe Bryant
“The thing with Kobe is that he truly respected the women’s game. Yes, his daughter started playing and he was able to teach her. That was really special, but he respected our game before that.”
- Sue Bird
“Kobe’s support for the WNBA and women’s basketball along with his passion for helping young girls and boys follow their dreams made him a true legend for our sport,”
- WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert
